Unique Firework photos from Metro Detroit.

Got to play around a bit on 4th of July weekend with some different techniques in firework photography (expanding on last years samples). These are all “in-camera” photos. This look is achieved by using a wide aperture and a longer shutter speed, while the shutter is open you take the lens from out of focus to in focus smoothly and quickly. Fun stuff and a nice change of pace from the typical firework photography (not that there is anything wrong with that).

Play around, Share & Enjoy!

Firework photos… we’ve all seen em and after many years I just got board with taking them. The I recently read an article on a new technique some folks were doing and it sparked an interest again!

The process is fairly simple but does take some practice. Throw your lens out of focus and while the shutter is open you roll it back into focus. These are all done in camera not photoshop. Lots of fun and a little unique. Give it a try.

Happy 4th of July everyone!
